NC Fire and Life Safety Educator Level 1 Classes
The Guil-Rand Fire Department in conjunction with Randolph Community College will be hosting Fire & Life Safety Educator Classes during the months of May and June 2010.
The class schedules are as follows:
May 20 – 21, Level 1 – General
June 10 -11, Level 1 – Education
Classes will be held at Guil-Rand Station #20 in Archdale, NC
All classes will be taught by Maria Bostian with Kannapolis Fire Department.
Annual North Carolina Fire and Life Safety Conference The Annual North Carolina Fire and Life Safety Conference sponsored by the North Carolina Fire & Life Safety Educators Association will be February 7th - 12th, 2010 at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC.

Annual North Carolina Fire Prevention SchoolThe Annual North Carolina Fire Prevention School will be held April 26 – 30, 2010 at the National Guard Training Center at Fort Fisher, Kure Beach (south of Wilmington). National Fire Investigator Certification Programs (CFI)
International Association of Arson Investigators
The IAAI seeks to acknowledge demonstrated competence in all phases of fire investigation, as held by numerous individuals from many fields, both public and private. This goal is accomplished by awarding points for achievements in Education, Training and Experience as they relate to Fire Investigation. These point totals are subject to maximums in each of these areas, which further assures substantial field experience as opposed to a primarily academic or theoretical background. National Association of Fire Investigators
The National Certification Board, the certifying body of the National Association of Fire Investigators, was created in 1982. Since its inception, the National Certification Board has evaluated and certified fire and explosion investigation professionals throughout the world. Certification programs include Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFEI), Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator (CVFI) and Fire Investigation Instructor (CFII). Check this link for more information.

Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings (IRTB). This course prepares emergency responders to react effectively, work cooperatively, and apply countermeasures in a WMD incident involving explosives. For the Fire and Explosion Investigator, this course also instructs the knowledge necessary to identify explosive materials and their after effects through; classroom training and hands on experience, witnessing real explosions using explosive materials/devices/IEDs, and how to systematically examine post blast damage.

Hands-On Bombs and Explosive Devices Post Blast Investigation Bombs—The Tools Of Terrorism. This course gives the fire and explosion investigator an introduction to Explosives and Their Hazards including the types of Explosive Materials involved in explosions, identification of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), an introduction to Basic Electricity, knowledge of Chemical and Biological Weapons, Crime Scene Management and search of scenes involving the use of explosive materials, Hands-On – Explosive Crime Scene Searching techniques at a simulated crime scene where an improvised device has been detonated.

North Carolina Emergency ManagementEmergency Management training is offered to local emergency management coordinators, law enforcement officers and fire department personnel. Emergency Response Training Center
(ERTC) is operated by the Transportation Technology Center, Inc. (TTCI), a subsidiary of the Association of American Railroads. Our original mission was to train railroad officials to safely handle accidents involving tank cars carrying hazardous materials. We now serve not only the transportation service industry, but also the public sector emergency response community, the chemical industry, government agencies, and emergency response contractors from all over the world. Since our inception, ERTC has trained more than 20,000 students worldwide.
Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center
(EMRTC) is known worldwide for its research and evaluation of explosive materials. EMRTC is a division of New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (New Mexico Tech). New Mexico Tech specializes in science and engineering education and research. EMRTC is located on the New Mexico Tech campus in Socorro, New Mexico.

Pipeline Emergencies 101 is an awareness training program for first responders. This program is interactive and has many training opportunities for you to incorporate your knowledge, and skills. The program features emergency scenarios, activities and an emergency based exercise to test your knowledge in real life situations.

NC Industrial Commission Safety Education Section
The accident prevention and safety services offered by the Safety Education Section of the North Carolina Industrial Commission are established to provide competent, practical instruction in accident prevention and workers' compensation. The courses and workshops are designed for the supervisor and employee in the interest of reducing accidents and their cost in North Carolina. Our schedule offers professional programs with experienced safety consultants of the Industrial Commission as instructors.
